Salesforce Warns of Malware Attack

Salesforce announced that a particular type of malware attack that usually goes after information at large financial companies could be taking aim at its users.  The destructive malware software is called “Dyre” or “Dyreza” attempts to steal user log-in data.

Salesforce.com is a global cloud computing company headquartered in San Francisco, California.  They are best known for its CRM product however it has also expanded into commercial applications of social networking through acquisition.

So was there a malware attack on Salesforce?

There is no evidence at the moment that any of Salesforce clients have been harmed however if the company discovers that customers have been impacted, they stated that they will contact them with information about how to proceed.  Even thou there is no evidence, Salesforce is worried enough about it to alert the public.

The malware shows up in a user’s email account as spam and asks a customer to download a file with information regarding their account.  There have been attempts on Bank of America, Natwest, Citibank, RBS and Ulsterbank earlier this summer.
