Apple is Recalling Faulty USB C Cables

Apple is recalling faulty USB C cables that where supplied with some of their products. The defective cables can break, stop working and not charge the device properly.

Why is Apple is Recalling Faulty USB C Cables?

Apple has launched a replacement program to handle the defective faulty USB-C cables that shipped with a few batches of the Apple MacBook product range. The affected Apple MacBook’s were sold between April 2015 and June 2015. The defective USB-C cables can be identified by their imprinted stamp at the end of the cable. The defective cables will have “Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in China.” Imprinted on them whereas redesigned cables include a serial number after the text.

USB-C cables are new designs and manufacturers are beginning to incorporate USB-C into more of their smartphones, tablets and laptops. Consumers have been faced with a challenge to find good high-quality cables that works as designed.

Apple will be offering a free replacement for the faulty USB-C charging cable to all eligible customers. The program also covers people who purchased the cable on its own as an accessory as these may also be defective. Apple is trying to provide a hassle-free way to claim a free replacement cable.

Registered Apple MacBook owners will receive a cable before the end of the month or you can get a replacement by cable by contacting Apple Support or Apple Store.
