Microsoft Surface AC power cords recall is effective January 21, 2016. Please share with anyone you know that may be using Microsoft Surface.
Microsoft is doing a voluntary recall for AC power cords. The AC power cord that plugs into an electrical outlet were sold with the Microsoft Surface Pro, Microsoft Surface Pro 2, and Microsoft Surface Pro 3 purchased prior to March 15, 2015.
The recall revolves around if these AC power cords are sharply and repeatedly bent or even wrapped tightly over an extended period of time, they may become damaged and overheat which may cause a potential fire or shock hazard.
Microsoft is asking that customers take the following action:
- Stop using their AC power cord immediately.
- Replacement AC power cords will be provided for these eligible devices at no cost through our website.
- To receive your replacement, please visit surface.com/powercord
- Customers are being asked to recycle their replaced AC cords.
Microsoft will be notifying registered customers via email of the voluntary recall as well social media.
